About Clime-Ma the Clown

Clime-ma the Clown was created by Mya DiMarco, an artist, children’s mentor, and advocate for youth mental health. Through her work with children in educational and recreational settings, Mya has developed a passion for helping kids feel confident, included, and free to express themselves.

Mya is currently enrolled at Nazareth University majoring in Theatre Design, and works as an assistant ice-skating instructor, where she teaches and encourages young skaters. She has also worked with children as a counselor with organizations including the Rochester Museum and Science Center and the Webster Central School District.

In addition to her work with children, Mya is the author and illustrator of an educational children’s book series, Lino the Flying Ferret focused on helping kids manage anxiety and build positive mental health strategies. Her books are currently available on Amazon.

Mya’s commitment to youth mental health extends into public service as well. She is a member of New York State Governor Kathy Hochul’s Youth Mental Health Advisory Board, where she helps advocate for resources, awareness, and support systems for young people.

Why Clime-Ma?

Clime-ma is not a traditional clown. The name "Clime-Ma" is a portmanteau which combines the words 'Clown', 'Mime', and 'Mya''. The character is inspired by mime performance, which uses expressive movement, playful gestures, and visual storytelling rather than loud or overwhelming behavior. This approach helps make Clime-ma especially welcoming for children who may feel shy or nervous about interacting with new people.

Through gentle humor, colorful balloon animals, and interactive fun, Clime-ma’s goal is simple: create a welcoming space where kids can laugh, relax, and enjoy the moment.
